Welcome to the best online source of quality information for everything health, fitness, injury, nutrition, and performance that pertains to having a healthy and active lifestyle!

So, What is Don’t Be a Meathead?

Don’t Be A Meathead® (DBAM) was created by Dr. Allen Manison to fill a niche in the fitness industry: a place for good online material that helps to educate people of all levels of knowledge who engage in physical fitness of any kind and/or are involved in healthcare related fields.  With that being said, DBAM has a focus on youth sports/athletes.  This is because there simply is not enough information available and most parents are left in a lurch when they have questions.  Well, that’s not going to be an issue soon!  DBAM has an amazing team of experienced professionals.  We are here to help keep you and your kids healthy, fit, and performing at an optimal level.  Please follow us on all major social media platforms and spread the word.  We’ll be adding lots of material soon.

With over 60 years of combined experience in the fitness and sports performance industry, Drs. Manison and Horwitz have worked with thousands of athletes of all levels.  Whereas they can help one person at a time in the office, they can help many more by educating through the internet.  The DBAM team is also comprised of a long-time functional movement strength coach/trainer, highly trained functional nutritionist, and a local Emmy award winning journalist to help us all put this together.

DBAM has a special focus on youth athletes.  There is a serious dearth of information available to help with most topics about kids, injuries, and sports.  Dr. Manison and the DBAM team are here to help with topics that involve being on the field, in the gym, with injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation, with nutrition, and so much more.  Only through proper education can we improve the health and performance of our youth athletes, and all athletes.  Injuries sustained in childhood can lead to more significant problems as adults and we want to help minimize that potential.

If people are exercising, it’s for some reason. Whether it’s for fitness, fun, competition, exhilaration, looks, or whatever else, the team at DBAM wants to be sure there is valid information available to ensure that whatever you are doing is being done in a proper fashion.  There will be videos, blogs, static pages, and more.  We’ll even soon have some great gear with our logo and wording!

DBAM is a source for information…and the DBAM team wants you all to enjoy it!
